Seagate has unveiled 660 SSD, its first solid-state drive (SSD)  for consumers, while also announcing its next-generation enterprise SSDs, Seagate 600 Pro SSD and the Seagate 1200 SSD.

Seagate 600 SSD is a laptop-friendly drive that offers nearly four times faster boot times and two times faster application load times when compared with a standard hard drive. The Seagate 600 SSD is available in multiple z-heights including a 5mm-high drive making it ideal for use in most ultra-thin devices. The drive features up to 480GB of capacity and incorporates a 6Gbps SATA interface. There's no word yet on the pricing or availability details of the Seagate 600 SSD.

Seagate 600 Pro, on the other hand, is an entry-level enterprise drive that aims to combine fast performance and lower power to deliver performance efficiency and IOPS/ watt value. It, too, is available in up to 480GB capacities and comes in 2.5-inch form factor with a 6Gbps SATA interface.

The Seagate 1200 SSD is designed for demanding enterprise storage and server applications with complex, write-intensive mixed workloads, such as high-performance computing and data analytics. It incorporates a dual-port 12Gbps SAS connector, while retaining backwards compatibility with 6Gbps SAS environments. The Seagate 1200 SSD is available with up to 800GB capacity and comes in either a 1.8-inch or 2.5-inch form factor.
