All major
computing and mobile technology related firms have been making interesting
showcases of their upcoming products and technologies at CES 2014. Toshiba
unveiled what seem to be the world's first ever 4K laptops at the ongoing event

Tecra W50 is designed for professionals working with graphically-intensive
applications, packing an integrated NVIDIA Quadro K2100M graphics with 2GB
dedicated memory, fourth generation Intel Core processor, and a 15.6-inch 4K
Ultra-HD display (3840 x 2160), 282 PPI, colour calibrated display.
The second
on the list is the Satellite P50t, which features the same display and
resolution as the Tecra W50 and has an integrated touch functionality along
with it. It could be safer to assume that the device will be targeted towards a
more younger audience. The 4K Ultra-HD screen also features edge-to-edge glass
with vibrant colour, crystal clarity, and higher contrast. Both the Toshiba 4K
laptops will go on sale in the middle of 2014. The pricing of the devices

devices, as industry pundits are predicting.

Google Launches Portal To Track Elections In India
Search engine giant Google launched an
exclusive Indian elections web portal on Thursday to assist voters in India to
understand the electoral process. It has all news related to elections and
politics and detailed information on each political party in the fray. Explaining
the need for the portal, Chetan Krishnaswamy, head of public policy and
government relations, Google India, wrote in the blog, "Election-related
search queries on Google have shown a considerable increase and the interest in
news information related to elections and politics have started to peak." The
portal collates news and videos from leading media houses and broadcasters relating
to assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and
Mizoram. The portal has English and Hindi content.
Users will be able to watch content hosted by YouTube partners for
elections and links to Hangouts discussing politics. The portal will provide
information on how the public can register for voting. There is a section on
frequently asked questions on voting and registration. "Our intent is to
empower voters with all the information they need at a single destination for
upcoming general elections," Krishnaswamy wrote in the blog. "Over
time, we will add more functionality to enable users to interact and engage
with the candidates so that they are not simply watching from afar, but
participating in, engaging with and shaping the political process in a
democratic way," he added.
